Don't be judgmental. Entrepreneurs are dreamers. They are full of ideas and from my experience in being married to one, need someone to be their sounding board. Allow them to share their ideas without being judgmental. You will need to tap in to the patient gods as you will need a lot of it.

   Don't ever say to a dreamer, "What now?" I made a decision a long time ago that I never wanted to be "that person" or "that wife"...you fill in the blank.

   Show sincere interest. Ask them questions. Let them know that you are their biggest fan. They will need that when the going gets tough.

   Understand how your dreamer thinks. Dreamers are ideas people. They always have a new one. It doesn't mean that they are going to sell everything and go start that Bed and Breakfast out in the wilderness. They are just expressing a thought. It's like exercising a muscle. They work out that muscle everyday. So don't freak out. You never know when that one idea is the one that brings success.

   Use your strengths to help them realize their dreams. I have noticed that Dreamers are not the best at administrative details. This happens to be my strength so I make sure that I help organize my husbands thoughts on paper and help him to follow through. This helps him tremendously and also helps him to feel supported by me.

   Learn how to communicate with them how much is in the bank account at the proper time and in a calm demeanor. First learn to manage your emotions when going through your statement. Especially when you see all the charges for the "how to books" and motivational speakers programs they have charged up. They are not thinking about how much they are "investing". They are only thinking about how something can help move them forward.

   Schedule time with them about what you specifically want to discuss. When married to a dreamer you are most likely the listener in the relationship. When they are sharing their ideas they are not looking for your input. They are expressing a thought. So don't mix what you want to talk about when they are sharing. Let them know you need to speak with them about some things and then schedule it. This way you have their full attention and they know it is their time to listen to you and what is on your mind.

   For your own encouragement read about the great dreamers of our time. Anthony Robbins, Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, etc. One day your dreamer could be among the list of these great names; what do they say, "behind every great man or woman. It takes a special person to be married to a dreamer. And you must be pretty special.
