Unhappy woman

culled from:pulse.ng

Sex is one topic of discussion that is usually addressed behind closed doors, and because of the secrecy surrounding it, a lot of misconceptions abound.
A lot of people believe that women shouldn't have any opinion on sex or anything related to it, because it's a man's thing. Wrong!
Here is an opportunity to clear the air about some sex myths many of you must heard over the years.
  1. Married sex is the healthiest: This is far from the truth. Marriage isn't your license to have sex and nor does it mean you are free of all other evils related to it. Neither is sex within marriage always consensual and nor is it the safest. So if you think married sex is the healthiest, think again. Your spouse can infect you with STDs just like when you're single.
  2. Sexual desire in women reduces after menopause: Though this may be true for some women, it is not a universal truth. In fact, some women even report increased sexual desire after menopause. This could be due to no fear of pregnancy and lack to stress too. So blaming your decreased sexual desire on menopause may not be totally correct.
  3. Women can't have sexual problems: Contrary to this belief, women also face a lot of sexual troubles that aren't common knowledge. Problems like low arousal, lack of orgasm, painful intercourse, etc, can make women lose interest in sex. So you might want to get a check-up done, if your sexual relationships are not that great.
  4. Vaginal sex alone gives you an orgasm: Most people think vaginal sex is the only way that women can reach heightened sexual pleasure. This is totally false. There are many other ways to satisfy their needs, like clitoral stimulation or with vibrators.
  5. Orgasm is the only way you can feel sexually satisfied: Many women like foreplay and cuddling more than sex and if that is missing, they'll probably never feel fully satisfied. So if you were thinking a good orgasm was the only way to be happy, think again.
  6. Making noises is the only way to show you're enjoying it: If you don't want to make those silly sounds, don't make them. While some women are vocal, others are silent. This does not mean that they are enjoying it any less. Of course, men love to hear you scream but if you don't want to do so, try another way or simply tell him later on that you liked it.
  7. Porn isn't for women: Seriously? Whoever still thinks this clearly hasn't watched any.  Women enjoy watching porn as much as men do, and erotic images can turn them on. So if you can't arouse the right desires, you might want to consider watching some x-rated flicks.
  8. The withdrawal method won't help you avoid pregnancy: If you thought using the pre-ejaculation plan and pulling out right before the climax will save you from getting knocked up, it doesn't always work. Your best bet is to use contraceptives or tell your man to use a condom.
  9. You can't conceive if you have sex on your period: Having sex while menstruating isn't a sure way to avoid pregnancy. In fact, even though the chances are less, you can conceive while on your period. The sperm can live for days on end when it enters your body. So if you ovulate soon, there are chances you might get pregnant.
  10. Women are completely different from men when it comes to sexual desire: This is absolutely false. In fact, most people's sexual desires differ, including men and women. This proves that men and women are not drastically different, rather very similar in their needs for sex. Variation in sexual desire is more related to your relationship than it is to your gender.
