Steps
1
Direct your browser to Mint.
om and log in to the website by clicking the black "Log in" tab at the
top right corner of the screen. After the link sends you to the secure
log-in page, enter your email address and password to access your
Mint.com account.-
2Allow the site to update your connected accounts. This process typically takes under a minute. Look at the grey menu column to the left of the screen. This bar's title is "Accounts." "Loans" is the third category from the top, and is represented by a green graduation cap. From here, you can start the process of adding your student loans to your Mint.com account.
-
3Click on the orange "Add it now! text that appears beneath the loan category. If you've already added a loan to your account, such as a home loan or a car loan, the orange text won't display. Click on any of your loan's hypertext instead. A new screen, the loan overview page, will open up over the previous page, but it isn't a pop-up window.
- If you get to the loan overview page by clicking one of your already added Mint.com loans, click on the "Financial" tab under "Accounts." Click on the blue plus sign to add another loan.
-
4Enter your loan holder's name or website into the open field that appears beneath "Enter your bank's name or URL. For example, if you have student loans with the federal government's Direct Loans program, type "Direct Loans" into the open field. Hit the enter key on your keyboard or click on the "Search" button.
-
5Match your loan holder's information. For example, if you'd entered "Direct Loans," you'd then click on the result that says "Direct Loans (US Department of Education)." If you can't find an appropriate result, click on the "Clear" button to try a different search term.
-
6Gather the information you need to fill in the resulting web form. Mint.com pulls log-in requirements from your loan holder's website and loads it into the Mint.com screen currently open in your browser. Fill in the requests for information, which will probably be for data such as your social security number, date of birth, email address or FAFSA PIN. Once you've completely filled out all the open fields, click the blue "Add It!" button to add your student loan account.
-
7Wait as the Mint. om account accesses information from your loan holder, which could take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. If a grey-blue box appears that displays your student loan account information, you've successfully added your student loans to your Mint.com account. You can now add more loans to Mint.com, or you can close the screen and log out of Mint.
