Steps

Make Your Breath Fresh Step 1.jpg

1
Buy some mints. Mints aren't expensive, so you can have a lot of them, if you want a lot. Tic-Tac mints are affordable, and they taste excellent. Try to avoid Thin Mints (and Junior Mints), they leave brown chocolate bits in your teeth. Chocolate in your teeth doesn't look very good.

Brush your teeth. Brushing your teeth is a quick and easy process. It helps get all the food that got stuck in your teeth, and it also freshens up your breath. Be sure to replace your toothbrush every 3 months. Brushing after every meal helps ensure strong teeth, and good breath at all times. People have brushed their teeth since at least 2500 B.C. That is a very long time, but you only need to brush your teeth 2 minutes every time, not a few thousand years.

Tongue-Scraper. After brushing BUT before rinsing and flossing, use a tongue-scraper. This is the most effective tool in fighting/preventing bad breath since much of the responsible bacteria are embedded in your tongue between your taste buds. The most affective tongue scraper is the flat plastic strip kind with serrated edges and a hole on each end for handling (usually white in color). The "spoon" or "rake"-looking scrapers don't work as well. (Instructions: Use the rougher of the two serrated edges. Your tongue should have residual tooth paste on it. Stick your tongue out but keep it relaxed. This will allow the scraper to dig deeper into the bed of taste buds. Start at the back and pull forward. Scrape the top and sides of your tongue. Rinse scraper with hot water after each scrape. Repeat until clean, 4-6 scrapes. Rinse mouth and then floss. Tongue-scrape every time you brush/floss (morning and night). If you've never scraped...prepare for a whole new kind of clean; you won't believe what's been hidden in your tongue this whole time...and say "goodbye" to bad breath.

Avoid garlic. Garlic smells bad. When you eat garlic, it leaves a scent in your mouth, and not a very good scent. If you are itching to eat garlic, eat it, then brush your teeth right afterward so no one knows (or remembers) that you ate earlier. Also, avoid to many onion-based products. They don't very smell good, either.

Use mouthwash. It clears up that awful garlic scent, and it also gets other stuff out of your teeth.

Chew gum. It is one the best things to freshen up your breath, but you might want to buy the sugar-free kind. Sugar isn't good for your teeth.
