Choose a Diet Plan

Ok, this doesn’t strictly require a Smartphone – you could also do this on a desktop. Using your Smartphone browser, choose from a variety of healthy diet plans - whichever is best suited to your requirements.

Download the THW App

The THW app has all the tools you’ll need to reach your health and weight loss goals. You can even link up with friends in the community to keep each other motivated! In the journal of Telemedicine and e-health, it states; "features that provide members with visual representation of goal progress, self-monitoring feedback, and support, were more likely to lose weight and keep it off."

Start Tracking

Using the THW App, track your daily calorie intake and track your fitness (cardio/conditioning). Keep a record of your weight loss progress too, by weighing-in weekly. Tracking helps you increase awareness and improves your perception of what you eat, ultimately leading to smarter choices. Several studies have shown that people who keep food journals are more likely to be successful in losing weight and also maintaining a healthy weight.

Stopwatch

Use the stopwatch feature on your Smartphone and time your fitness cardio and reps. Save your personal best and see if you can beat it each time you workout. It's fun and motivating making new personal bests!

Share with your friends

Sharing intimate details about your weight loss program is a a brave move. Text or Facebook share with someone you trust implicitly about your intention to lose weight, and ask them to be your weight loss buddy. It's a great way to share support, motivation and be cheered on.

Other uses of your smartphone

Tool How to use
Voice memos Recording yourself is a great way to track how you feel. Consider it a voice diary. Reflection can help you stay on-track. Tip: Record a fun and motivating message and send to your weight loss buddy!
Notes For the times when you can't talk, take notes about your thoughts, feelings and mood. After a few weeks of doing this, you'll notice the patterns and the pitfalls, and be able to start working on removing any triggers from your daily routine. Tip: If you go to Settings->Keyboard options; you can add emoticons to your notes to add some imagery fun.
Photo capture Take photos throughout your weight loss program so you have 'before' and 'after' shots; another great motivation tool. Tip: Download the App Moldiv - you can make simple and easy collages!
Reminders Set reminders so you don't have to worry about weighing-in, your gym class, or that walk with your weight loss buddy. Tip: Set your favourite workout song as the reminder ringtone!
Stop the music with a timer Hate looking at the clock while working out? Set your music to a timer so when the music runs out, you know you've completed your session.
