Your office Christmas party is a great official event to dress up for. But it’s not always easy to decide on what to wear and how formal you’re supposed to be. You don’t want to come off as a bore to colleagues and clients, but you don’t want to be over the top either. Here are some ideas to consider when choosing the perfect party look:
If the party takes place during daytime, you can dress less formal than during an evening event. But unless you go to a sporty event with your colleagues, do dress up. Christmas is a special and most of the times elegant celebration. For a daytime event you can wear dresses and skirts in thicker fabrics like wool, with silk blouses and a beautiful blazer or cardigan. During evening events go for a chic cocktail dress.
Keep in mind that a certain kind of office dresscode still remains. Firstly, never wear clothes that are too revealing. Secondly, do not wear deep cleavages, sheer blouses and dresses and skirts that are too short or too tight. And thirdly, do not choose attire that is too casual. Sneakers, animal prints and jeans are not appropriate for an elegant office Christmas party. Instead choose darker seasonal colors and dressy fabrics, which make you look more classy and appropriate for the event. Make sure that your hair looks tidy and go for a classic but natural makeup look.
A great option for an elegant and chic Christmas office party look is a lace dress. Lace is the go-to fabric in terms of holiday pieces. My favourite piece at the moment is the satin panel lace dress from Reiss in cherry and navy. It has a classic fit and shape and still remains modern with its stylish blend of fabrics and its cut-out detail to the back. It’s crafted from bonded lace with contrast panels to the neckline and waist. Here are my styling ideas for this dress:
