There will be a few obvious trends this year as well as a few surprising ones. Regardless of whether you are new to entrepreneurship or not, take heed of these advances in 2015.
1. Get Off the Trend Bandwagon
The problem is trends tend to distract an entrepreneur from what they really want to accomplish. A nearly non-trendy trend this year will be to get off the bandwagon and focus on specific ideas and techniques rather than attempting to try everything at once.
2. Big Data will Rise
There is data circulating everywhere. New products and projects will start development in 2015 to aid in all different aspects of life. Big data will allow entrepreneurs to take over their own niches that have never been developed before.
3. Creative Financing Will Become More Popular
We all know that our traditional financing isn’t cutting it anymore due to the economy. In 2015 we’ll see that creative financing will start becoming a viable option for entrepreneurs.
4. Showing Customers You Care
Creating value for your customers will be huge in 2015. The days of discounts for loyal fans will no longer be enough. Loyalty programs will need to be attended to and improved based on what your customers want.
5. Increased Competition Will Cause Consolidation
Unfortunately, 2015 will be much tougher year for startup. Rather than seeing many new individual projects crop up, we’ll see more entrepreneurs teaming up with each other to create companies.
6. The Time to Crowdfund is Here
2015 is going to bring about a huge boom in crowdfunding campaigns. More consumers are becoming comfortable with the idea of donating to support a product that doesn’t exist yet. If you have been considering a crowdfunding campaign, this is the year to do it.
7. Mobile Apps Will Boom
If you don’t have an app, 2015 will be the perfect year to start brainstorming and developing. Consumers rely heavily on their phones and mobile apps, almost as if they were “remotes” for their lives. Advances in development last year will allow apps to be created in just a couple months in 2015.
8. Advances in Sensor Applications
There will be further advances in sensor development and applications in 2015. These types of sensors include everything from video game console apps like the Kinect to RFID/NFC. In fact, RFID devices are expected to nearly triple in sales this year.
9. Web Design Will Need a New Look
More and more people are beginning to prefer a newsfeed style of website that is image-heavy. Think Pinterest. You don’t need to totally re-do your website, but it would be wise to add in some similar features in 2015.
10. “Made in America” is Back
There is going to be a boost in domestic manufacturing in 2015. Due to the advances in 3D printing, anything from plastic buttons to toasters will be able to be made here on a larger scale. You will be able to access customized products and materials in the US while improving customer experience.
