1
Get out the text you have to read.

  1. 2
Read over it, and say it out loud a couple times.

Part 2 of 3: Memorization

  1. 1
Figure out how you are going to memorize it.
    • If it is a script, record your voice saying the other parts.
    • If it is the preamble or some historical/political/grammatical piece of literature, either turn to Schoolhouse Rock on YouTube, and memorize it by singing along, or turn the text into a song.
  2. 2
Do this a few times a day for 20-30 minutes every day.
  3. 3
After you think you have it down, try to write it down completely on a piece of paper. If you can do it, you are ready, if not, study more. Read it over/sing it again a couple more times to make sure you've got it down.

Part 3 of 3: Practice

  1. 1
Get in front of a mirror, and read the speech to yourself.
  2. 2
Read in front of a stuffed animal or two.
  3. 3
Read to a trusted friend or family member.
  4. 4
Read to a large group of friends, or the teacher supervising the event.
  5. 5
    You're ready to perform live!
