Drink 8 cups (2 l) of water or 6 to 8 cups (1.5 to 2 l) of herbal tea each day. You'll want to be well hydrated at the time of your colonic.

    Eat plenty of vegetables, particularly green vegetables and/or salad greens. Ideally, vegetables should account for 50 to 70 percent of your meals in the days prior to your colonic. Try to consume a combination of raw vegetables, such as in salads, and some vegetables that are steamed or lightly cooked. Do not consume processed food such as cakes and pastries, foods made with white flours and/or sugar and artificial sweeteners, chocolate, and fast food. Processed foods are more likely to get stuck inside your bowel.

    Chew your food thoroughly. Try to chew each mouthful 20 to 30 times before swallowing. Thorough chewing will reduce the accumulation of undigested food and pockets of gas in your colon.
