As a child, did you ever wish you were a beautiful
princess? Or the regal queen of a magical land? Did you create intricate
fantasies and daydream about how wonderful it would be to live a royal
life?
You’d have everything your heart could ever desire. A bejeweled crown. A royal ball in your honor. Servants at your beck and call. Suitors vying for your affection. A sprawling castle, lavishly adorned and designed for your every comfort.
Sounds like perfection, doesn’t it? Not a care in the world, not a worry to be had. The ideal life.
But even castles have spiders.
Oh, it may look like all unicorns, rainbows, and glitter on the outside, but on the inside that castle has many of the same challenges as any other home. Dust, dishes, laundry… spiders.
From the outside though, you might believe that the princess’s life is always perfect. That her relationship with Prince Charming is always romantic, that her coffers are always overflowing with gold, and that her kingdom is always without strife. But the reality is that nothing is ever as perfect as it seems or as we might wish it to be. And there are no exceptions to this, even for princesses.
Every one of us has dragons to slay.
Remember this when you are comparing your life to that of someone else. When you’re worrying about the obstacles that lie in front of you, when you’re feeling hopeless because things feel so out of whack, and when you’re thinking quitting might be the best option because it’s so hard for you but so easy for others. You are not alone. Even the very successful face these challenges.
The road to success is always full of peaks and valleys, curves and stretches, and even a poisoned apple or two. It’s all a part of the process of making your dreams come true.
