Choosing A Diet That Is Right For You

culled from:morningcoach.com

I’m going to say this straight and not pussyfoot around it. This is going to be one of the most difficult things that you’re going to do.
These days we’re bombarded with ‘eat this not that’, ‘buy this not that’, and lord knows what else. You can’t forget about that friend of a friend who has used said product and well, look at them now. The simple reason is that they want you to buy their product/services.
Luckily for you I am not selling anything. Well, not yet that is.
I’m going to try to keep this as short as possible as I can go off on and talk for hours about any one diet’s pro’s and con’s. Instead of boring you with lengthy diagrams and details I’m just going to throw a few tips at you in hopes that you can find which diet best suites your needs.
The first thing I want to throw at you is that everyone is different. You may be a marathon runner and the diet that you need may not be the same as the diet that a cross fit enthusiast needs. This isn’t a tip but a fact of life. Too many diets focus so much on fat loss that we also sacrifice a lot of other things like health. Skinnier does not always equal healthier.
Here are some tips to finding a diet that suites you and your goals.
The Why
You’re going to have to figure out what you want. A vague “I just want to be skinnier.” isn’t going to cut it. You need specific goals here. For an example is your goal to lose two inches around the waist, increase you’re total bench press, longer endurance, etc.?  You will need specifics as without them choosing the appropriate diet for you isn’t going to help.
The How
Now that you have a specific goal in mind you’re going to need to find the how. Find out how others with the same mindset as you managed to achieve their goals. Having a rough idea on how other people achieved it may provide you with a road map.
Try it out for a month and see if it worked. If you see results keep it up, but if you’re still at the starting line then maybe it’s time to change it up. I want to interject one more thing here because your weight might be the same always consider using photographic markers as well as actual measurements rather than weight.
You may be shrinking but you may also be growing muscle, thus keeping the same weight but getting thinner at the same time without you realizing it. Try not to resort to one area of measurement because it may lead you astray.
The Who
Find people who can help you. People in the same field as this may actually be the best motivation and/or help you can find so try to find people that have either achieved the same or are in the process of getting there. Birds of a feather flock together.
The Plan
Now that we have some knowledge about what we want and the in’s and out’s it’s a good idea to start planning. The plan is the road map for your success. Without a plan there is no success. You can think you can wing it, but you will end up just wasting your time.
In the plan you could include meal plans, types of foods, and when to eat those foods. Those meal plans can consist of size, weight and frequency etc.  Remember that not all diets are created equal and your needs can differ a lot from the person sitting next to you. The only real way you can figure out is through trial and error.
There’s so much more information I want to add to this, and I am pretty sure some of you would keep on reading, but you have better things to do like figuring out your goals.
Now get out there and get cracking! I am here if you have any more questions and or answers. Remember this is just a guideline to get you started. I can help you further your education in yourself, but only if you’re willing to invest the time needed to make a better you.
