- Allow your schedule to develop and change it until it fits with your life and you are comfortable with it. When aspects of your life change, you may need to change the schedule again. Just make sure everything still gets fitted in somewhere.
- When bedtime comes, are you just longing to snuggle into the sheets as quickly as possible. If so, keep your night-time routine as short as you can. You don't have to bath or shower then if you'd rather do it in the morning. Always brush your teeth, and floss if it suits you to do it then. Always remove make-up. Nowadays you can buy wipes that will take all of it away in no time.
- If you really can't be bothered with flossing at night, making time every morning, or even every other morning, is better than not at all or just occasionally when you feel like it.
- How often do you wash your hair? Remember to schedule time for drying and styling it.
- Decide when to paint your nails, shave your legs, thin your eyebrows, clean shoes, clean spectacles.
- Keep notes in your diary of when you will need your next appointment with the dentist, optician, hairdresser, and beautician.
- If you work at home, try to set a routine where you are fully dressed and ready for the world by 9 am, including make-up if you wear it. You'll feel so much better when there's a knock on the door, and you'll be able just to put on a coat and pick up your keys when you need to go out for some air, post the mail or pick up supplies.
- Washing and ironing clothes is another aspect of personal grooming that should be factored in, as well as organizing dry cleaning and mending.
- Have a system for finding what to wear quickly. It could just be hanging items for different color schemes in a particular order in your closet.
- A more enjoyable aspect is replacing clothes by shopping. Having a budget for this makes it even more enjoyable. Knowing that you have a certain amount of dollars to spend on something nice to wear in two months time, gives you something to look forward to even when times are difficult and money is tight.
