Eat, and be prepared for your server to return to ask you how the food is, whether you want more drinks, etc. When you are finished eating, the server will come and clear the plates and offer you dessert menu to look over. (You don't have to order dessert unless you want it).

Check and add the bill to make sure that there are no errors. Some restaurants only accept cash, but most will accept credit cards. The waiter or waitress will take the money and bring back any change if necessary. Remember that in the United States, it is customary to give at least a 20% tip, more if the server has been particularly good.

Wait for your change or sign the receipt if you used a credit card. Once you are sure that you have paid, you can leave the restaurant.
