Steps
1
Call attention to the fact you intend to raise a toast. Often, this is done by saying, "I would like to propose a toast to....".-
2Wait for your associates, dining partners, or event attendees to recognise your intentions and to lift their glasses from the table if they are not already holding them.
-
3Compose a brief comment in your mind so you will know exactly what you plan to say.
-
4Speak clearly and enunciate your words carefully. Toasts do not have to be shouted, but everyone intended to hear them should be able to do so.
-
5Raise your glass and offer it forward the group you are with can touch yours with the rim of theirs to show their accord/ agreement with what you have stated.
-
6Set your glass down after the toast so everyone can relax and continue what they were doing.
-
7Avoid staring at the lady to whom you have offered your toast, as she may become embarrassed by the attention drawn to her if she is present.
