Mobile office professionals need to take steps to ensure the safety and security of their mobile gadgets. Don't let your mobile gear become the target of theft or damage.
  • Never leave your mobile gear unattended, even for a moment.
  • If you must leave your mobile gear in a car - put it in the trunk and remember to lock the trunk.
  • Use a carrying case for your laptop that is sturdy and doesn't scream "laptop inside".
  • If you are at a client's and going for a coffee or lunch - lock your gear in a desk or in an office that can be locked.
  • Buy a cable locking device and use it!
Some other security measures include:
  • Audible security alarms
  • Tracking software similar to that of car LoJack systems
  • Fingerprint identification access measures
The security of your mobile gear is up to you and you must be pro-active in order to prevent loss or damage of your gear. Preventative measures now will save you grief later when you try to restore data and replace mobile gadgets.
