culled from:beautyandtips.com

1. Protect your hair
Our first tip on how to make your hair thicker naturally is simple – protect your hair as much as you can. Your hair can be easily damaged by outside factors, so remember to be kind to your hair at all times. If you are going to be in the sun for extended periods, then wear a hat to protect your hair, if you are going swimming, then wear a swim cap in the pool and and be sure to wash out the chlorine afterwards, if you are going to sauna, protect your locks with a towel. Just taking care of your hair and protecting it from things that will dry it out and damage it, can quickly make a difference in the thickness of your hair.

2. Homemade hair treatment that will help your hair grow faster, get thicker and be stronger
Here is the recipe of a wonderful hair treatment that will help make your hair thicker naturally (use this mask before washing your hair): mix 2 tablespoons of plain sea salt (it should be extra fine ground sea salt without any add-ons or fragrances) with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of avocado oil, 1 tablespoon of sweet almond oil; mix well all the ingredients. Then, take your beauty bath, and first massage your scalp with warm water while lying in the bathtub, then, gently, in circular motions massage your head with your sea salt plus oils mix. Basically, what this mask will do is exfoliate, strip and wash away all the dirt, silicones and other chemical substances accumulated on your head from the products we use regularly (such as hair sprays, silicone based hair conditioners, heat protectants, volumizers, etc), all these were sitting on top of your scalp, preventing the follicles of your hair from breathing, developing and growing healthily. Sea salt has wonderful antiseptic properties, therefore, you can use this mask even if you suffer from dandruff. Sea salt will work as a scrub, antiseptic and also will help stimulate blood circulation in your scalp, thus promoting the growth of thicker and healthier hair. After gently massaging your scalp with this treatment for about 2 to 5 minutes, wash your hair using sulfate-free shampoo and condition, as usual. Do this treatment once a week and you will see wonderful results. (If you’ll feel uncomfortable and too strong heat or pain, while massaging your hair with this treatment, then wash away immediately, don’t continue to suffer if it’s somewhat painful for you, OK?)

Then, after doing this little massage, let’s continue to care about our hair: peel and grate one middle sized ginger root, mix it with 10 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, in a bowl, add 1 teaspoon of sweet almond oil, 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil, 1 teaspoon of argan oil and 2 drops of rose essential oil (or lavender essential oil). Close the bowl and let this mixture sit and prepare for 5-10 minutes, then strain the mixture to obtain the ‘magic juice’. Take 1 tablespoon of this magic juice, mix it in 1,5- 2 liters of water and rinse all your hair with it, from the roots to the ends, then proceed to drying your hair, as usual. (You don’t need to rinse this magic juice out with water). Ginger root and rose essential oil will neutralize the smell of vinegar, so you don’t have to worry about it. This magic juice will make your hair shinier and improve its elasticity, stimulate blood circulation in the scalp thanks to ginger root, it will nourish your hair and improve hair thickness.

3. Limit the heat
Another tip on how to make your hair thicker naturally is – limit the heat. Heated styling tools will damage your locks too. Limit how often you use hair straighteners, blow dryers and curling irons, because every time you apply artificial heat to your hair, you cause some damage. If you really can’t do without them, then turn down the temperature setting and use a heat protection product on your hair before styling.

4. Feed your hair from the inside
Another suggestion on how to make your hair thicker naturally is – make sure to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Just like the rest of your body, your hair needs nourishment too. For a healthy head of hair you need to be eating plenty of protein, like lean meat and fish, sea food, eggs and diary products, and getting an adequate supply of iron from foods, such as liver and leafy green vegetables like spinach, and, of course, add a sensible amount of fruit intake for vitamins.

5. Change your hair washing routine
Washing your hair too often can strip out all the natural oils and leave your locks looking limp and lackluster. Change your routine and only wash your hair every three days. It might look and feel greasy when you first start this, but your hair will adjust, in time to the new routine. Also, try once in a while washing your hair with an egg. Eggs are rich in protein and will work beautifully as a natural shampoo. Just mix a couple of eggs in a bowl until you obtain an even substance and then use it the same way, as you use your usual shampoo. Washing your hair with eggs will not only nourish your locks, but it will also add some volume to your hair thanks to protein; then condition as usual and enjoy gorgeous hair with slightly enhanced volume.

6. Be gentle with your hair when it’s wet
Our next tip on how to make your hair thicker naturally is – be gentle with your hair when it’s wet. If you brush your hair roughly, when it’s wet, then you stand a good chance of breaking your hair and thinning it. If your hair is wet, then use a wide toothed comb to gently ease out any tangles and don’t tug on your hair with a brush.

7. Massage your scalp
Massaging your scalp will increase the blood flow to the hair follicles and promote the growth of strong, healthy hair. A good way to do this is with a warm oil treatment. Heat a few tablespoons of argan or coconut oil and massage it well into your hair and scalp ,and then leave it on for about half an hour. The oil will nourish your hair and the massaging will improve the hair growth.

8. De-stress your life and get enough sleep
Another important ingredient in the recipe of how to make your hair thicker naturally is – living (or trying to live) stress-free life. Easier said than done, but stress is a big cause of hair loss in both men and in women. Too much stress can cause changes in your hormone levels and in the cortisol in your body which can, in turn, lead to hair loss. This is reversible though, so make sure you give yourself enough time to relax and get enough sleep.

9. Dry your hair upside down
And finally, an easy and simple tip on how to make your hair thicker naturally is – you can easily add volume to your hair by drying it upside down. Tilt your head upside down and blow dry on a gentle heat, and it will stop the strands of hair from being flattened against your scalp and give your locks bounce and volume.
