I often come back from a training with so many ideas that I just wish
I could have taken all my colleagues with me. Since that is almost
never possible, I have found baby steps are most successful. Here are a
few tips for getting your team (and your boss) on board:- Stick to the basics. Which 2-3 elements from the training are essential to introducing the larger lessons? How might you begin to integrate those practices into your work as a way to lead from where you are? Model the lessons you want others to learn to show how they'll help everyone.
- Engage Others. Who at work could be an ally? Schedule some one-to-ones and share your experience from the training. Then explore what they think is possible in bringing this work to your organization on a larger scale and share your ideas.
- Pay it Forward. How can you present the training content in mini professional development workshops for your staff? What materials and resources might help you prepare for this? Maybe you can organize others at your work to attend a similar training? Getting more people on the same page with new ideas and frameworks will help you integrate the learning in a larger way.
