Think about the past. Call to mind memories from your time spent at this institution. Remember your successes as well as your failures; remember when you were happiest, and when you were sad. Use these memories to characterize your time here: point out people and moments that changed you, and think about why each of these memories is so special.

Write it down. Make a list of those memories. For each one, write a quick synopsis - what happened? - as well as a small analysis: what did this mean to you, why is it important, and what does it have to say about your overall experiences? Discuss your memories with the other people involved in order to remember them more clearly and get another perspective on them.

Think about your future. What are you doing after you leave this place or institution? What are your plans for the future? Where do you hope to be in a few years, and where will your audience be? If you plan to stay in touch with the people you're leaving, mention that; in any case, talk about how your future will be influenced by the friends and memories you've made here.

Start writing your speech. Start with your feelings about the farewell and seeing your friends for the last time. Describe your memories and emotions throughout that time. Write about your plans and suggestions for the future. Include a joke or two to lighten the mood, if you want. Finish the speech with a goodbye to everyone and good hope for all.
