Dieting for skin tone

culled from:http://pulse.ng

Did you know that having a diet rich in 'carotenoids' (the antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables) can sort of make your skin look toned?
This just might be the cure you have been looking for, definitely a good thing if you ask me.
A new study has found that a complexion darkened by antioxidants is often perceived as more attractive than an actual suntan.
While a suntan generally darkens your skin and makes very small changes in red and yellow pigmentation, carotenoid coloration darkens skin less, while more substantially increasing the reds and yellows, explains study coauthor Carmen E. Lefevre, a psychology researcher at Leeds University Business School in England.
Darker faces were generally rated as more attractive than pale ones, but the test subjects preferred the diet-darkened faces over the UV-darkened skin 86 percent of the time. The study didn’t explain why.
Interested in getting some more carotenoids in your diet?
Well, aim to get at least three and a half additional servings a day of carrots, sweet potatoes, apricots, dark leafy greens, or tomatoes for six weeks.
According to a previous study, this increase should be sufficient to change your skin tone.
