Did you know talking or texting on your phone,
puts your skin at risk? In a culture where selfies have become a daily
occurrence, making use of your cell phone is inevitable. These are a few
(emphasis on the word few), negative side effects caused by constant
interaction via mobile phones.
Of course, giving
up your cell phones is out of the question. So here are some of these
skin reactions and their simple solutions.
Wrinkles
Causes:
Keeping your gaze downward for long periods of time can cause something
called "techneck" — wrinkles underneath the chin and around the neck.
Squinting at small text can also cause crow's-feet around your eyes.
Solution:
The neck and chest regions are one of the first areas to show signs of
aging. Make sure that your anti-aging skin care products reach these
areas.
Skin Allergies
Causes:
Sudden break out of rashes could be caused by your phone usage. Recent
studies have proven that the nickel and chromium in cell phone casings
can cause a reaction on skin called allergic contact dermatitis.
Solution:
Not all cell phone brands contain the rash-inducing nickel, and not
everyone is sensitive to the mineral. If you do have sensitive skin, you
could enclose your phone in a plastic case and then cover your screen
with a clear protector to prevent irritation.
Acne
Cause:
Do you know that your mobile phone carries more bacteria than the
toilet seat handle? Shocking right? Remember all that makeup and sweat
that ends up on your screen after a very lengthy conversation? Those
accumulate and could cause breakouts on your skin.
Solution:
You can use a water-based solution with 40 percent alcohol or use any
monitor wipe. You could also invest in an eyepiece and save yourself the
stress.
Under-Eye Circles
Causes:
LED light from your mobile phone can affect your sleeping routine. The
blue glow emanating from your computer, cell, and tablet screens can
throw off your internal sleep rhythm, which makes it harder to fall
asleep.
Solution: Less sleep
means under-eye bags. Prevent puffy, dark circles by investing in eye
creams that can keep the bags at bay. Better still, set your phone in
another room after dinner and get an alarm clock.
Dark Spots
Cause:
Remember midnight calls? That burn you get after talking on the phone
for hours? Well, that’s overheating and it can cause major skin issues.
The heat can mess with your melanin production, causing dark spots and
discoloration.
Solution: Don't
let your phone rub against your face for too long. When in a private
area, put your phone on speakerphone mode or switch to Bluetooth for
lengthier conversations.
